My mission is simple. As a recent widow, I want to offer support, care and understanding to other widowed people. That is why this website is exclusively for widows, widowers, and unmarried people who have lost their common-law spouse or partner. For the purposes of this site, "widowed" will be inclusive of all the categories pertaining to the death of a significant other.
It is my belief that no one should take this journey alone and uninformed. The best ways of helping are through targeted support groups, shared resources and friendship.
No one understands a widowed person like another widowed person. Short-term grief groups are a great help and counseling is a useful tool, but, when those resources have been exhausted, widowed people need somewhere to go and someone to cling to. This philosophy led to the creation of the Dave Baleria Center for Victory Over Grief and to this website.
Helping you will help me. My husband and I did everything together. Dave was able to retire at the age of 52 1/2 and we were having a great time as full-time RVers. We were active, happy and full of excitement for the future. We also led a purposeful life through the eleven different seminars we developed and taught at RV events such as Life on Wheels, The Gypsy Journal Rally, THE RALLY (Affinity Group) and other events. Dave developed Internet resources for RVers and was a proud member of several fraternal organizations.
For now, I cannot do the things I did before. But, I can work to help others in my situation in an effort to make their lives more meaningful. Without renewed purpose, I will only exist. That was never good enough for Dave and it won't be good enough for me.
